In September 2012 we were very fortunate to take delivery of a new Retreat Macquarie caravan.
We chose the Retreat because it seemed to tick all the boxes of what we wanted in a caravan without being an overly large van (18’6″ inside) and having an ATM that suits our tow vehicle.
To allow us to take advantage of “free camping” sites in our travels we have fitted the van with three 140 watt solar panels with a 40 amp solar regulator and these keep the two house batteries charged for days.
We’ve used the Retreat quite extensively since 2012 having toured in Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia as well as sundry other trips getting there and back. In 2013 we travelled through the south west of Queensland visiting such places as Boulia, Bedourie, Birdsville, Windorah and Thargomindah both free camping and in caravan parks and have been happy with the setup.
After completing a “Big Lap” around Australia in 2015 we decided it was time to sell the caravan and explore other methods of travel to satisfy our wanderlust. A few short weeks after advertising the Retreat the caravan left us to find a new home in a suburb north of Brisbane with Phil and Ruth.
We hope that Phi and Ruth enjoy the Retreat as much as we did and create as many good memories and great times as we have experienced during the time we owned the caravan.
